Candidates should possess 8+ years of production-level coding experience, with a minimum of 5 years focused on C++ and hands-on experience with Chromium development. Flexibility to work across the tech stack, including learning Swift, is essential. Experience independently managing critical projects with minimal guidance is also required. The role necessitates 4+ hours of overlap with team members in the Eastern Time Zone.
The Software Engineer will design and lead projects to enhance Chromium architecture and develop new features in collaboration with Product Engineers. Responsibilities include participating in the Chromium engineering on-call rotation, managing upstream changes, responding to incidents, and supporting major Chromium upgrades. The engineer will also improve the Chromium codebase for security and infrastructure updates to increase engineering team iteration speed, advise colleagues on Chromium architecture and capabilities, and create/optimize APIs for seamless product code integration. Additionally, they will interact with the broader Chromium community and collaborate with core contributors.
