Requirements
- Deep understanding of the cost and billing systems for at least one major cloud provider (AWS or GCP), including Cost & Usage Reports (CURs) and GCP Billing Reports
- Knowledge of FinOps principles and ability to put them into practice
- Ability to write code to interact programmatically with cloud resources
- Proficiency in SQL and ability to dig deeply into cost/usage reports, as well as other cost-relevant activity logs
- Experience with Terraform and cloud-based Kubernetes (EKS, GKE) is desirable
- Familiarity with cost aspects of Databricks and Snowflake is desirable
Responsibilities
- Develop, communicate, and drive cloud cost initiatives across the organization
- Create tools and dashboards that provide stakeholders in Product, Engineering, and Finance with visibility and actionable insights into their cloud spend
- Identify and analyze the key drivers of cloud costs and report findings to budget owners
- Build and maintain models for cloud cost forecasting, spend anomaly detection, and cost attribution
- Manage employment of AWS Savings Plans or GCP Committed-Use Discounts
- Design, build, and implement a comprehensive cloud cost management framework covering cost optimization, attribution, forecasting, and governance
- Influence the bottom line by managing costs across AWS and GCP, including attribution to specific products and business initiatives
