Requirements

Expertise in designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs for enhancements and new products, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools
Ability to determine hardware compatibility and/or influence hardware design
Developed subject matter expertise to solve common and complex technical problems, recommend alternatives, act as project lead, and provide assistance to lower-level professionals
Experience with independent judgment and consulting to determine best methods for work and objectives
Proficiency in Python + C++ hybrid execution, including C-extensions for performance
Skills in systems and data engineering, low-level optimization in performance-critical systems, distributed querying, data merging, system calls, IPC
Knowledge of product packaging, upgrades, deployment orchestration, homegrown file-based telemetry databases, time-series and graph databases
Experience with data pipelines, ETL flows, data synchronization, cloud enablement, and sync logic (e.g., datasets, format normalization, usage signals)
Ability to work in hybrid environments bridging on-prem and cloud-native systems

Responsibilities

Maintain and enhance the backend platform powering Apstra’s configuration, telemetry, and analytics pipeline (60% of role)
Own product packaging, upgrades, and deployment orchestration
Manage homegrown file-based telemetry database (custom-built, optimized for performance)
Handle distributed querying, data merging, system calls, and IPC
Develop Python + C++ hybrid execution, including C-extensions for performance
Enable data synchronization from on-prem Apstra to JCloud (40% of role)
Construct data pipelines and ETL flows to prepare, transform, and deliver telemetry for cloud analytics consumers
Own cloud enablement and sync logic (e.g., example datasets, format normalization, usage signals)
Design, scale, and optimize distributed systems for real-time, multi-version enterprise network workloads across campus, data center, and WAN fabrics
Bridge on-prem legacy systems with evolving cloud-native future, modernizing and integrating across environments
