Position Overview

Anrok is addressing a critical challenge for all Internet businesses: navigating the evolving landscape of tax compliance. As the internet economy grows, companies need to manage sales tax exposure, calculate local rates, and file returns across numerous jurisdictions. Anrok simplifies this by connecting with billing and payment systems to automate sales tax compliance end-to-end, enabling companies of all sizes to transact compliantly worldwide. As a Software Engineer at Anrok, you will collaborate with your colleagues to gain a deep understanding of customer needs, design robust systems to solve real-world problems, and build exceptional product experiences. Our current technology stack includes TypeScript (frontend and backend), Postgres, and React, though prior experience in these specific technologies is not a prerequisite.

Responsibilities

• Own the scoping, design, and development of product features.
• Identify and resolve bugs and address technical debt.
• Collaborate with the Support team to resolve technical issues for customers.

Requirements

• Strong technical background with 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience building web application backends.
• Experience with frontend development is a plus, but not required.
• Demonstrated ability to thoroughly analyze problems and ensure the development of appropriate solutions.
• Capacity to push back when necessary to ensure the right solutions are built.
• Skill in designing systems that account for current and future needs, technical debt, and maintainability, with the ability to clearly articulate trade-offs.
• A proactive approach to mentoring and elevating team members through knowledge sharing.

Work Model

• San Francisco Bay Area Employees: A hybrid model is followed, with 3 days per week in the office for in-person collaboration.
• Employees Outside the San Francisco Bay Area: Full-time remote work.
