Requirements

Have written and maintained test automation frameworks from scratch
Know what makes a test helpful, flaky, or someone else’s problem
Think like a user: spot edge cases, understand feature usage, and create meaningful test coverage
Enjoy working on test infrastructure that supports engineers and removes workflow friction
Get excited about shipping less brittle, faster tests; treat test automation as usable, not a checklist
Can independently scope, build, test, and maintain tools and systems without needing direction on what “done” looks like
Enjoy writing code daily and have recent coding experience
View QA as enabling rather than gatekeeping
Prefer building and improving systems over just validating requirements
Comfortable in a small team environment without heavy ceremony or fixed roles

Responsibilities

Write and maintain end-to-end tests
Contribute to and build test infrastructure
Work closely with engineers to create fast, confident feedback loops, especially in rapidly evolving product areas
Design systems that others want to use
Debug and simplify existing test setups (e.g., fix flaky tests, make tests 10x faster)
Bring product intuition to test systems: focus on user-reliant areas, edge cases, and steering engineers to valuable tests
Build tooling and workflows that save time, reduce risks, and improve reliability (not just count test cases)
Occasionally assist with manual testing when the team is busy
Help turn engineering and quality visions into practical tools used by the team
