Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Own incident management and its lifecycle, including process alignment, streamlining, automation, adoption monitoring, and creating objective incident reporting (monthly, quarterly, yearly; on-demand product reliability reports)
  • Act as advisor/expert on reliability topics: provide onboarding/education, drive reliability community/mindset, promote blameless incident culture, identify risks, and promote systematic long-term solutions
  • Help teams define, develop, monitor, and maintain SLOs/SLIs for their products
  • Provide client-centric point of view on incidents and products
  • Shorten incident response times (detect, engage, fix) by assisting with troubleshooting and improvements
  • Develop internal tooling and automation to reduce toil and speed up incident response
  • Provide objective quality insights: raise awareness of improvement areas based on historical data, deliver actionable insights from trends/metrics, and guide on outliers
  • Discover problems, define, and solve tasks under guidance of senior engineers
  • Design and implement automation and tooling (scripts, services, dashboards) to improve incident detection/response, reduce toil, and provide reliability insights
  • Overview incidents in production, help in complex incident response using strategies
  • Troubleshoot platform-wide problems: understand big picture and guide to resolution
  • Collaborate with product and development teams to integrate reliability improvements into code and architecture
