Requirements
Candidates must have 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience, with advanced proficiency in PHP, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and MySQL. Strong experience in custom WordPress theme and plugin development, a solid understanding of WordPress core, hooks, filters, REST API, and multisite environments are required. Experience with ACF, Gutenberg/Block Editor, third-party integrations, WordPress hosting solutions (WPEngine, WPVIP), and domain management are necessary. Proficiency with Node, npm, Git, Gulp, Webpack, Bootstrap, jQuery, Tailwind, and modern development frameworks/workflows is needed. Experience working with mature design systems, localization, modern translation plugins, large-scale multisite installations, performance/media optimization, caching strategies, and WordPress security best practices are essential. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, are required. Experience with React, REST API/GraphQL, custom block development, CI/CD pipelines, and technical SEO principles are preferred.
Responsibilities
The Senior WordPress Engineer will be responsible for the development and maintenance of custom WordPress themes and plugins, adhering to best practices and modern coding standards. They will develop and implement strategies for streamlined content management, architect scalable and performant WordPress solutions for high-traffic websites, and collaborate with design and product teams to translate UI/UX designs into functional WordPress implementations. The role involves collaborating with the design system team to ensure consistency, integrating third-party APIs and services, and contributing to code reviews to maintain quality. Responsibilities also include optimizing websites for SEO, accessibility, performance, and responsiveness, managing and improving WordPress hosting configurations, deployment pipelines (CI/CD), and version control processes. Staying up-to-date with WordPress core updates, trends, and vulnerabilities, and debugging/troubleshooting issues across the stack are key duties.
