Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with both title examination and title searching
  • Title Agent license preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of legal terms used in title documents
  • Ability to read and decipher legal descriptions relating to title orders
  • Commercial experience is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Complex problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and remain flexible to changing demands

Responsibilities

  • Examines chain of title primarily for residential properties, potentially expanding to commercial and/or industrial
  • Abstracts and analyzes records, including mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books, to determine ownership and legal restrictions
  • Writes title products based on interpretation and application of procedural guidelines
  • Provides underwriting interpretation within established guidelines
  • Actively mentors less experienced team members and provides input and knowledge
  • Offers guidance and support to team members on routine questions
  • Supervises special projects assigned by the department manager, including delegating responsibilities
  • Immediately escalates issues/concerns to the department manager
  • May have customer contact
  • Consistently acts in accordance with Vacation Ownership’s Services Golden Rules and exhibits core First American values
