Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in technical design (5+ years minimum specified elsewhere)
  • Proven experience in technical design for apparel products, with a focus on fit, construction, and quality
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, fit requirements, balance, pattern grading, fabrics, and fabric performance
  • Must have some denim experience
  • Strong computer skills including Adobe Illustrator, MS Word, Excel, and technical design software/tools (e.g., Gerber Technology)
  • Experience with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, clear and concise orally and in writing with all levels
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multitask, meet deadlines, prioritize, cope with change, and maintain composure under pressure
  • Independent, self-motivated, team player, accountable for results, proactive in resolving problems
  • Leadership skills to manage a team of technical designers and coordinate multiple projects
  • Experience in apparel industry, preferably managerial/leadership role (preferred)
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to apparel technical design (preferred)
  • Onsite four days a week

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for fit, construction, quality, and consistency of 5 pkt denim and fashion denim/wovens
  • Work closely with Technical Team, Designers, and Product Development on fit issues from development to bulk approvals
  • Manage and facilitate fit sessions independently with fit models
  • Lead fittings and make decisions independently
  • Maintain and enter specs and fit comments in Excel and PLM system
  • Write fit comments with specs and fit corrections
  • Work with Director/Senior Manager on correcting patterns when needed
  • Maintain fit trackers from development to bulk approval
  • Manage the technical design process for apparel products, ensuring quality standards, fit specifications, and design requirements
