Requirements

  • Expert level knowledge and expertise in all areas of large scale "Systems of Systems" inter-networking development and deployment
  • Good knowledge of Security protocols and their implementation
  • Experience working with system architects, RF engineers, antenna engineers, Earth Station engineers to partition functions between hardware and software domains and perform system level interface trade-offs
  • Experience working in a Systems Engineering environment and familiarity with Systems Engineering products to facilitate progression from requirements through design, implementation, verification, and deployment
  • Familiarity with computer systems design and design methodologies in an Agile development environment
  • Understanding of Layer 2 protocols (an asset)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical or computer engineering or related discipline with emphasis on some combination of computer engineering and network engineering
  • Extensive experience in the development

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing subsystem designs to ensure compliance with system level specifications and interface documentation
  • Performing network level simulations regarding capacity, latency, etc
  • Proposing changes to requirements specifications to refine overall system performance
  • Making assessments regarding development and deployment plans
  • Participating in the development and refinement of interface documentation at Level 3 and higher
  • Deriving and maintaining top level specifications for use by subsystems and responding to requests to modify requirements as necessary
  • Creating and reviewing test procedures and plans as well as test results to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Characterizing and analyzing system performance
  • Developing and maintaining performance budgets on specific aspects of the system
  • Providing technical support to regulatory, coordination, and market access teams
  • Providing mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and those with less domain specific knowledge
  • Preparing and delivering presentations to the Telesat technical community
