Requirements

Candidates should possess an MS/PhD or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of industry experience in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field. Strong coding proficiency in Python, C++, or Rust is required, along with experience in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and familiarity with various stages of the development pipeline, including data processing, distributed training, and model deployment. Proficiency in profiling CPU and GPU code using tools like PyTorch Profiler and NVIDIA Nsight is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Senior/Staff ML Optimization Engineer will collaborate closely with autonomy and algorithm engineers to scale safe self-driving systems using an AI-first approach, build standardized distributed training frameworks, comprehensively profile model runtime and memory to identify performance bottlenecks, and evaluate emerging technologies for training and inference frameworks, including efficient CUDA kernels, quantization, model exporting, and compilation. They will also identify when custom CUDA kernels are needed and implement them, and experience with Bazel build systems and integrating third-party packages into development environments is beneficial.
