Position Overview

Instawork is seeking an innovative Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our growing team. This role will be the founding ML engineer in the APAC region, with the opportunity to set the direction and vision for ML in the area. While initially working closely with a US-based team for 1-2 quarters to build knowledge, this position will primarily focus on APAC-focused projects. Who You Are

  • Experience: 6-10 years of experience building machine learning models for business applications.
  • Mindset: Entrepreneurial mindset with a blend of startup and large-scale experience; co-founder experience is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced understanding of statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests).
    • Deep understanding of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks) and their real-world applications.
    • Expert fluency in Python & SQL for data manipulation and insight extraction.
    • Working knowledge of common web/mobile architectures, data pipelines, and CI/CD processes.
    • Strong understanding of DBT or similar data transformation methodologies.
    • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Mode, Tableau, Looker).
  • Education: B.Tech/B.E or BS/B.Sc in Math, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields.
  • Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills with executive presence.

What You'll Do

  • Algorithm Development: Design, develop, and implement machine learning algorithms to address complex problems in real-time scheduling and workforce optimization.
  • Regional Focus: Initially collaborate with a US-based team for 1-2 quarters, requiring flexibility for some early morning or evening work, before transitioning to immerse in APAC-focused projects.
  • Strategic Impact: Influence key company objectives by working closely with Product teams to refine the roadmap.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and metrics to track product performance.
  • Data Management: Gather, clean, and prepare large datasets for machine learning models.
  • Pipeline Engineering: Build and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient machine learning pipelines.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate ML solutions into production systems.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and evaluate the performance of machine learning models, implementing continuous improvements.
