Candidates should possess 5+ years of habitational underwriting/insurance experience, a strong knowledge of habitational insurance products, coverages, and underwriting principles, and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience preferred. Retail agency relationship experience is also preferred, along with curiosity, a hardworking attitude, self-accountability, a positive outlook, humility, and a fun personality. Candidates should also have an opinion, be open to other opinions, and possess a passion for obtaining, retaining, and employing knowledge, as well as sharing it. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong analytical skills and attention to detail are required. The candidate must be located in the Midwest territory with a working understanding of the Midwest insurance landscape.
The Senior Specialty Underwriter will play a pivotal role in establishing and shaping Honeycomb’s presence in the light-nondamitted market, quoting and releasing new light nonadmitted business, analyzing and approving requested policy changes, maintaining familiarity with E&S state insurance regulations and ISO rules, monitoring the E&S portfolio composition, supporting marketing functions, completing special projects and assignments, and potentially traveling up to 10% as needed. They will also utilize next-generation risk assessment techniques, modernized underwriting using cutting-edge technology, and engage in mentorship, training, and network expansion opportunities.
