Responsibilities

  • Next-generation risk assessment: Utilize big data, AI, and curiosity to move beyond binary underwriting and revise risk selection.
  • Modernized underwriting: Employ cutting-edge technology to accurately assess risk, price, and provide bespoke coverage/terms to profitably grow and manage a book of business.
  • Market Shaping: Play a pivotal role in establishing and shaping our presence in the light-non-admitted market.
  • New Business: Quote and release new light non-admitted business referred from underwriting algorithms or seeking changes exceeding user authority thresholds.
  • Policy Endorsements: Analyze and approve requested policy changes, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain familiarity and compliance with E&S state insurance regulations and ISO rules for all states within the assigned underwriting territory.
  • Collaboration: Maintain open, transparent, and supportive communications with team members and interdivisional partners.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Monitor E&S portfolio composition via reports, audits, and inspections.
  • Marketing Support: Support marketing functions and efforts to build and promote Honeycomb.
  • Special Projects: Complete special projects and assignments as needed.
  • Travel: Some travel may be required (<10%).

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of Habitational underwriting/insurance experience.
  • Product Knowledge: Strong knowledge of habitational insurance products, coverages, and underwriting principles.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience preferred.
  • Relationships: Retail agency relationship preferred.
  • Attributes: Curiosity, hardworking, self-accountable, positive attitude, humble, and fun.
  • Collaboration: Have an opinion, share your opinion, and be open to other opinions.
  • Learning: Passion to obtain, retain, and employ knowledge, as well as share knowledge.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Territory: Territory includes IL, MI, OH, IN, WI (soon to include MN).
  • Location: Candidate should be located in the defined Midwest territory with a working understanding of the Midwest insurance landscape.

Benefits

  • Base Salary: $100,000 - $125,000
