About the Role

The Confluent Platform Team, based in India, is dedicated to delivering a best-in-class, full-scale data streaming platform for various Bring Your Own Infrastructure (BYOI) setups, from developer laptops to private cloud environments. This team plays a crucial role in making Confluent's data-in-motion expertise accessible everywhere, including private clouds and the open-source community. The Confluent Platform is a significant revenue driver for the company, and this team is responsible for its product roadmap, security, and timely support, enabling customers to maximize their private data center investments for all data-in-motion use cases.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and architects to evolve the Confluent Platform.
• Technically drive advancements within the expanding Confluent Platform charter.
• Design and build technology to ensure high quality deliverables.
• Develop code for provisioning, rolling upgrades, scaling clusters, multi-region deployments, disaster recovery, and secure configuration management.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions addressing customer needs.
• Champion open-source community building initiatives.
• Improve the debuggability and supportability of components through embedded technology for on-call operations, aiming for self-serve issue resolution for customers and L1 support.
• Integrate the latest Kubernetes ecosystem advancements into Confluent for Kafka (CFK) to benefit customers.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering their skill development through hands-on experience and guidance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on software development experience.
• Proven ability to anticipate future technical needs and create plans to achieve them.
• Experience in taking ideas from conception to production.
• Demonstrated experience building and operating large-scale systems.
• Solid understanding of fundamental systems operations (disk, network, operating systems, etc.).
• Experience running production services in cloud environments.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development.
• Solid understanding of concurrent and multi-threading programming.
• Self-starter with the ability to work effectively in teams.
• Proactive in identifying technical issues, diagnosing root causes, and implementing fixes.
• Ability to ship deliverables in a timely manner, balancing short-term technical decisions with long-term product vision.
• Commitment to moving fast, building incrementally, and iterating.
