Requirements

  • Passionate and skilled software engineer with exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Analytical with high attention to detail and self-motivated
  • British Citizen or Dual UK national with British citizenship (Security Clearance requirement)
  • Able to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS)
  • Strong proficiency in software programming in C++
  • Proven record in delivering software products on complex systems
  • Experience and knowledge of all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle, especially software requirements and design
  • Experience of building internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to support and develop more junior engineers
  • Collaborative and open approach to problem solving with strong communication skills
  • Deep and broad range of experience in software engineering from requirements to certification
  • Experience taking the lead in technical implementation and delivery of complex solutions

Responsibilities

  • Developing the future laser defence capability for the Royal Navy as part of the Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Cyber team
  • Supporting and mentoring other engineers in the team
  • Ensuring personal development and healthy work/life balance for the team
