About the Job

Flex is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to implement the various backend systems that support all business features. You will be an integral part of the backend engineering team, responsible for the services and integrations powering our products, including Payment, Billing, Identity, and partner integrations.

In this role, you will be involved in designing, developing, testing, and scaling systems to deliver exceptional user and partner experiences. You will collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering peers to address critical user challenges in rent payment. We operate with an agile methodology, favoring small, frequent iterations for rapid customer rollout. The ideal candidate will be adept at leading the scoping, design, and implementation of APIs, driving their production rollouts to completion with minimal oversight.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 6 years in software engineering.
• Java Expertise: Minimum of 4 years of experience with Java.
• Global Collaboration: Ability to work effectively on a globally-distributed team with a high degree of ownership.
• Stakeholder Management: Experience working with technical and non-technical stakeholders, successfully aligning expectations on scope and delivery.
• Adaptability: Ability to thrive and grow in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that challenges you to perform at your best.
• System Design: Experience building robust, fault-tolerant systems with multiple external dependencies.
• Data Pipelines: Experience designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines.
• Java Frameworks: Proficiency in Java frameworks and tools used at Flex, including Spring (core/web/boot), Gradle, JUnit, and JVM (memory/performance tuning, GC).
• Architecture: Experience with Service-Oriented Architecture, REST APIs, Message Queues, and scalable architectures.
• Cloud & Containerization: Experience with AWS (EKS, Aurora RDS, Elasticache, DynamoDB) and containerization tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• CI/CD & Automation: Proficiency in CI/CD systems (preferably GitHub Actions), git, and automation.
• Observability: Skilled in observability and monitoring tools, such as DataDog, to ensure high availability.
• Big Data: Experienced with big data platforms and tooling, including Snowflake.
• Infrastructure as Code: Proficient in Infrastructure as Code, using tools like CDK and Terraform.
• Mentorship: Skilled at elevating team standards through best practices and mentoring junior engineers.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in cross-functional collaboration.

Compensation

The salary compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks.

• NY/NJ/CA: $197,000 - $213,000 (base salary)
• Other States: $177,000 - $192,000 (base salary)
