SleeperFull Time
Mid-level (3 to 4 years)
Candidates should have 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin. A track record of developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes is required. Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with elegant, simple, and extensible designs is necessary. Proficiency in making significant changes in large codebases and developing tools and practices for safe modifications is expected. The role requires taking ownership of personal growth, seeking feedback, and possessing strong verbal and written communication skills. An equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's degree in a related field is also required.
The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for owning and delivering quarterly goals, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems, and ensuring team support during delivery. They will collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to articulate technical constraints and partner on decisions considering risks and trade-offs. Proactively identifying and solving project, process, technology, or business issues is a key responsibility. Supporting the operations and availability of team artifacts through metrics creation and monitoring, escalating when needed, and participating in on-call efforts are also part of the role. Fostering a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them beyond the team through writing and tech talks, is expected. Additionally, the engineer will help develop talent on the team by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
