Requirements

Candidates should have 5+ years of software engineering experience, including architecting, designing, and building scalable web applications and distributed systems. Proficiency in Python, relational databases, and frameworks like FastAPI or Django is required, along with hands-on experience in metrics instrumentation and data-driven performance tuning. A proven track record of scaling complex, data-intensive backend systems through rapid growth and a deep understanding of distributed systems are essential. Experience in telehealth or other highly regulated industries, and decoupling monolithic applications into distributed asynchronous services are considered bonus skills.

Responsibilities

The Senior Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable, and secure backend services using Python and FastAPI. They will design and implement new applications, enhance existing platform capabilities, and contribute to the evolution of Ro’s technical architecture. Responsibilities include defining the technical roadmap, owning initiatives from ideation through implementation and maintenance, and assessing/improving system performance and reliability. The role involves driving engineering excellence through best practices in testing, monitoring, observability, and performance optimization, collaborating on code reviews and technical design documents, and working with product managers, designers, and engineers from adjacent teams. Participation in on-call rotations to ensure the reliability of production systems is also required.
