Candidates should have 5+ years of experience building backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin. Experience with distributed systems and infrastructure using AWS, MySQL/PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes is required. Strong system design skills, proficiency in SQL, familiarity with CI/CD practices, and excellent communication skills are essential. A proactive, ownership-driven mindset is also necessary, along with a willingness to participate in an on-call rotation. Experience with Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, or Chronosphere, as well as a background in fraud prevention or the fintech sector, are considered advantageous.
The Senior Software Engineer will own and deliver quarterly goals, lead engineers through complex problem-solving, and ensure team support. They will design and implement backend services and APIs using Python or Kotlin within a microservice and event-driven architecture. Responsibilities include shaping the team's roadmap, collaborating on technical design, and driving cross-team project execution. The engineer will partner with management to elevate quality standards and evolve engineering processes, representing the team in cross-functional initiatives. They will collaborate with stakeholders in Fraud Ops, Compliance, Product, Machine Learning, and Analytics to build scalable fraud tooling and infrastructure. Proactively identifying and leading efforts to improve system reliability, team efficiency, or architecture is also key. The role involves contributing to operational excellence through high observability standards, incident response, and maintaining a culture of ownership, inclusion, and craftsmanship through mentoring and upholding high standards.
