Position Overview

Cribl is seeking a dedicated Senior Staff Software Engineer for its Platform team. This role focuses on identity management, authentication, and authorization, driving technical vision for secure and robust identity protocols. The position involves significant backend development with a focus on full-stack TypeScript, leveraging AWS and other cloud technologies to build resilient, scalable solutions across various deployment mechanisms (on-premise, cloud, hybrid). The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for large-scale architectural changes, automate testing, and enhance continuous deployment systems.

Responsibilities

• Help define and refine software development practices for team effectiveness.
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code with a focus on observability and resilience.
• Coach and empower less senior engineers to help them grow and own larger epics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders to define product area vision and scope.
• Work with Management, Product Engineering, and Operations to plan and forecast quarterly goals, balancing tech debt, bug fixes, and new features.
• Champion the entire software development lifecycle: requirements, design, testing, deployment, and production support/monitoring.
• Take on new challenges across the full-stack to advance Cribl Cloud.
• Share on-call responsibilities and participate in a team that embraces service ownership.

Requirements

• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable, and testable full-stack code (Node.js/TypeScript).
  • Experience in complex development environments, particularly large-scale, highly available distributed systems and SaaS platforms.
  • Proven experience developing resilient and scalable backend services on major cloud providers, preferably AWS.
  • Experience developing secure and intuitive RESTful APIs and interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, Linux, and distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of secure web development practices, including troubleshooting complex application workflows and performance tuning.
  • Experience with assertion frameworks and tools like Mocha, Cypress, Jest for automated regression checks.
  • In-depth experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., BitBucket, Jenkins, CircleCI).
  • Broad experience implementing various cloud design patterns.
  • Experience with serverless/lambda-based implementations.
  • Experience implementing Authentication & Authorization for internal and external customers.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary Range: $175,000 - $210,000. The salary offered will be dependent on geographic location and based on the individual candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
