Requirements

  • Strong technical aptitude with a deep understanding of the finite element method and its application using commercially available software packages
  • Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles in mechanics and/or CFD and FSI

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to execute a modeling and simulation strategy for design optimization and evaluating reliability of Structural Heart and Aortic devices
  • Develop predictive engineering tools, techniques, and approaches to support the product development process
  • Execute modeling & simulation studies to assess stress/strain magnitudes and distributions in implant components
  • Virtual design and prototyping of new transcatheter heart valves, using expertise in non-linear finite element software tools to incorporate large deformation, complex multibody contact, dynamic impact, modal analysis, and multiaxial cyclic fatigue failure modes
  • Interpretation of complex in-vivo loading modes derived from patient imaging and mathematical conversion to Finite Element Analysis boundary conditions
  • Research into realistic device-anatomy interaction simulations including reconstruction of patient anatomies into meshed FEA models
  • Application of CFD or FSI software tools to predict flow conditions in the vicinity of implanted bioprosthetic heart valves
