Requirements

Technical leadership in process control, including design, controls philosophy, implementation, and commissioning
Experience with DCS and SCADA software design, coding/configuration, testing (sequence logic, graphics, batch software)
Expertise in automation engineering activities, including design, tuning, and troubleshooting of control loops
Ability to develop and implement functional requirements, process control strategies, and Automation Engineering Project Plans
Proficiency in leading design reviews, DeltaV application software reviews, equipment and software FATs
Skills in implementing and supporting electronic systems (plant historians, applications, software integration) for process data capture
Knowledge of maintaining validated state of control systems per Lilly quality standards, including validation strategies and documentation
Capability to technically lead site area leads, system integrators, and teams of automation engineers during commissioning
Strong organizational skills, including planning, prioritization, task completion, initiative, collaboration, creativity, and resilience
Ability to build networks, leverage corporate expertise, promote automation for productivity/efficiency/compliance, and mentor teams

Responsibilities

Mentor process control team on design, controls philosophy, implementation, and commissioning
Develop and implement the Automation Engineering Project Plan
Technically lead and oversee work of Site Area leads and System Integrator, including Functional Requirements, Design Specifications, DCS Application Software, Test Specifications
Lead/participate in design reviews, DeltaV application software reviews, and attend equipment/software FATs
Lead a team of automation engineers supporting commissioning and provide periodic status updates to Project Management
Devise functional requirements and process control strategies for control systems in collaboration with Process Engineering
Perform DCS and SCADA software design, coding/configuration, and testing
Conduct automation engineering activities including design, tuning, and troubleshooting of control loops
Implement and support electronic systems for capturing process automation production data
Maintain validated state of site control systems, including development/execution of validation strategies and documentation
Provide automation support for capital projects, including new product introductions
Promote use of automation to improve productivity, operational efficiency, and compliance
Develop networks of corporate contacts and leverage expertise as needed
In coordination with consultants, set and reinforce standards for rigor in automation work products
