Requirements

  • Leadership experience in Medical Affairs, particularly in Neuroscience, Rare Disease, or General Medicine
  • Expertise in medical strategies, Integrated Evidence Generation Plans (IEGP), medical education, and field execution (e.g., MSL plans)
  • Ability to lead and develop high-performing, diverse teams, including Medical Directors, Medical Education, Medical Communication, and Field teams
  • Knowledge of compliance with relevant guidelines, regulations, and governance processes
  • Experience in global medical affairs forums, representing regional needs (e.g., Canada) and influencing global strategies
  • Strong scientific and clinical expertise to represent the company with key opinion leaders, professional associations, and institutions
  • Strategic planning skills for early and mature assets, aligning with patient needs and business priorities
  • Ability to foster partnerships across regional, global, commercial, and market access teams

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the NRG team (Neuroscience, Rare & General Medicines) and development/execution of medical strategies for all relevant products, including IEGP, medical education, and MSL field plans
  • Lead the medical sciences vision and strategy for NRG, positioning Medical Affairs as a core pillar in the organization
  • Serve as a member of the Medical Affairs Leadership Team (MALT) and Global Medical Affairs Teams (GMAT), enhancing connectivity, best practice sharing, and partnerships
  • Develop and deliver the Medical Affairs strategic plan for early assets and all assets in the therapeutic area, ensuring resourcing aligns with patient needs and business priorities
  • Attract, develop, and manage talent to build a diverse, high-performing medical organization and broader talent pipeline
  • Ensure compliance of all individuals, strategies, and processes with relevant guidelines and regulations
  • Guide development and implementation of IEGPs, including medical assessment and approval of local clinical study protocols
  • Represent Canada in Global Medical Affairs forums, shaping strategies to reflect Canadian market needs
  • Act as key clinical/scientific expert with leading medical experts, associations, institutions, and internal commercial/market access counterparts
