Responsibilities

  • Understand, validate, correct, and act on Material Requirement Planning (MRP) and its messages; ensure BOM, yields, lead times, MOQ, and safety stock are correct for accurate MRP signals
  • Source, purchase, plan, and schedule movement of raw materials, packaging materials, parts, components, services, supplies, finished goods, and related materials through production and inventory processes
  • Actively manage raw material inventory, including analysis and reduction of unhealthy inventory
  • Partner with Sourcing Engineer to resolve supplier issues related to quality, capacity, and lead time
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional projects involving Supply Chain, Sector, and/or corporate initiatives to meet business objectives
  • Ensure compliance to procedures and represent purchasing in audits
  • Coordinate and follow up with production, warehouse, IQC, and engineering personnel to ensure appropriate procurement, scheduling, and movement of materials and services
  • Compile information to stay informed on price trends and manufacturing processes
  • Monitor supplier performance and collaborate on demand analysis planning
  • Meet inventory goals while supporting material requirements for production
  • Maintain purchase orders (POs) for dates and quantities to remain current and drive supplier OTIF excellence
  • Represent Purchasing in Manufacturing, Operations Scheduling, and other daily Tier meetings
  • Coordinate closely with suppliers and Manufacturing to prevent line downs due to materials
  • Place timely purchase orders, expedite materials, and resolve payment issues with suppliers
  • Partner with Commodity Management/Supply Management on supplier Value Stream, Capacity Planning, supplier issues/delays, and Business continuity assessment
  • Proactively escalate supplier issues and gain buy-in from cross-functional teams to ensure risk mitigation
  • Responsibility for MRP accuracy, purchase planning and execution, PO maintenance, and raw material inventory (including placing POs for raw materials, Kanban agreements, raising call-ups, negotiating timely delivery, ensuring cost-effective acquisition of quality materials, validating BOM for buy materials, and inventory analytics to reduce unhealthy inventory)
  • Lead and work collaboratively with Production Planning, Manufacturing, Commodity Management, Supplier Quality, and Supplier Management
