Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience, CPA preferred
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting requirements
  • Ability to research and thoroughly document complex technical accounting issues and positions on new accounting standards
  • Experience in accounting for complex transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions (M&A), business combinations, and revenue recognition
  • Proficiency in preparing financial statements and understanding disclosure requirements
  • Critical thinking and ability to apply sound judgment to challenging accounting problems
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Proactive and creative problem-solving approach to complex accounting problems
  • Meticulous attention to detail ensuring accuracy and thoroughness

Responsibilities

  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) on the company's application of complex accounting issues, such as revenue recognition, leases, equity, and consolidations
  • Understand the business strategy by meeting with business leaders and FP&A team to learn long-term goals and strategic initiatives
  • Familiarize with the close process, reporting calendar, controls, and relevant accounting systems or tools
  • Support the month-end and quarter-end close
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and control improvements
  • Take ownership of key projects, such as leading complex accounting assessments or new policy implementations (e.g., joint ventures, software capitalization)
  • Communicate effectively with leadership by presenting conclusions on complex accounting issues via position papers
