Requirements

7+ years of experience, CPA preferred
US GAAP & Reporting experience: A strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting requirements is fundamental
Technical Research & Documentation: The ability to research and thoroughly document complex technical accounting issues and the positions taken on new accounting standards
Complex Transactions: Experience in accounting for complex transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions (M&A), business combinations, and revenue recognition, is highly valued
Financial Statement Preparation: Proficiency in preparing financial statements and understanding disclosure requirements is necessary
Critical Thinking: The ability to think critically and apply sound judgment to challenging accounting problems is essential
Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills are needed to support decision-making and resolve issues
Problem Solving: A proactive and creative approach to identifying and solving complex accounting problems is a significant asset
Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to work, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks, is a must

Responsibilities

Become a subject matter expert (SME) on the company: Understand the company's specific application of complex accounting issues, such as revenue recognition, leases, equity, and consolidations
Understand the business strategy: Meet with business leaders and members of the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team to understand the company's long-term goals and strategic initiatives
Support the month-end and quarter-end close
Identify process improvement opportunities and control improvements
Take ownership of key projects: Take the lead on a complex accounting assessment or a new policy implementation, specifically around joint ventures, software capitalization, etc
Communicate effectively with leadership: Start presenting conclusions on complex accounting issues to senior leaders via position papers
