Requirements

  • Experienced in MRI Safety Engineering leadership within R&D organization
  • Expertise in MRI safety for implantable medical devices, including RF exposure analysis, device heating, and functional safety in MRI environments
  • Knowledge of RF and electromagnetic interactions in implantable medical devices
  • Proficiency in MRI safety modeling, simulation, characterization testing, verification/validation, and MR Conditional testing/labeling
  • Familiarity with applicable standards (ASTM F2182, F2052, F2213, ISO, IEC, FDA guidance)
  • Ability to manage a team of 6–15 MRI safety engineers and technicians
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with teams like Systems Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality, and Regulatory
  • Capability to provide strategic technical leadership and influence innovation roadmaps, regulatory success, and patient safety
  • Based in or willing to work out of Plano, TX location in the Neuromodulation Division

Responsibilities

  • Lead MRI Safety Engineering team, driving technical excellence in design and testing across programs
  • Define and execute MRI safety strategies, including RF exposure analysis, device heating, and functional safety
  • Provide expert guidance on RF and electromagnetic interactions in implantable medical devices
  • Oversee MRI safety modeling, simulation, characterization testing, verification/validation activities
  • Ensure full lifecycle MRI safety labeling, including MR Conditional testing and labeling strategy
  • Partner with R&D teams to integrate MRI safety requirements from concept through commercialization
  • Drive cross-functional reviews of MRI safety design inputs, risk assessments, and test results
  • Ensure compliance with standards (ASTM F2182, F2052, F2213, ISO, IEC, FDA guidance)
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team of MRI safety engineers and technicians; perform resource planning, workload balancing, and capability development
  • Foster culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams (Quality, Regulatory, etc.) and global development sites
