Requirements

  • Experience implementing internal controls and periodic testing of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFOR)
  • Ability to work closely with outsourced service providers to coordinate and manage SOX compliance, including design and operating effectiveness testing
  • Reporting directly to the VP Corporate Controller and overseeing all aspects of the SOX compliance program
  • Expertise in driving comprehensive risk assessments across key financial and operational processes (e.g., revenue, procure-to-pay, payroll, accounting, infrastructure)
  • Knowledge of the COSO model for designing and operationalizing internal controls frameworks
  • Skills in designing preventive and detective controls ensuring data integrity, reporting accuracy, scalability, and audit readiness
  • Capability to oversee day-to-day execution of controls programs through co-sourced partners and vendors, ensuring alignment with standards, timelines, and quality
  • Experience monitoring and refining internal controls, identifying gaps, and recommending remediations
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry frameworks for internal controls, including readiness for public-company standards
  • Ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams to redesign/enhance systems and processes for compliance and control effectiveness
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and collaboration skills with Finance, Operations, Compliance, and other stakeholders
  • Experience serving as liaison for external auditors on internal controls, handling inquiries, and resolving findings
  • Proficiency in evaluating and mapping end-to-end business process flows to identify financial reporting risks
  • Ability to educate stakeholders on internal controls and financial risk concepts

Responsibilities

  • Own Business Process Financial Risk Management:
  • Lead comprehensive risk assessments across key financial and operational processes to identify control gaps and emerging risks
  • Design and implement a robust internal controls framework for financial reporting based on the COSO model, focusing on preventive/detective controls, data integrity, accuracy, scalability, and audit readiness
  • Execute the controls program through co-sourced providers by managing partners/vendors, ensuring alignment with standards, timelines, quality, and coordination with stakeholders/auditors
  • Monitor and Improve Processes:
  • Oversee an integrated monitoring framework for the health, execution, and refinement of internal controls, providing visibility into performance and recommending remediations
  • Ensure alignment of control activities with regulatory requirements and industry frameworks for public-company readiness
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to redesign/enhance systems/processes, address control gaps, and prepare for future requirements
  • Lead and Influence:
  • Collaborate with Finance, Operations, Compliance, and stakeholders to build consensus on control objectives and adapt processes/policies for scale
  • Serve as main point of contact for external auditors on internal controls, handling inquiries and resolving findings
  • Evaluate and map end-to-end business process flows, identifying/addressing financial reporting risks
  • Educate stakeholders on internal controls and financial risk concepts to foster a culture of accountability
