Requirements

  • Deep experience in all aspects of data protection, ideally from private practice, in-house at a bank/financial institution or regulator, or a leading big tech company
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience (or equivalent)
  • Genuine interest in data and cyber developments (a passion/geek-level interest)

Responsibilities

  • Partner with first line and second line data protection teams on initiatives and data protection related issues
  • Act as trusted legal advisor to colleagues across the business, providing pragmatic and scalable legal advice on complex data-related challenges, with heavy focus on marketing, advertising, tracking technologies, and interplay with banking regulations
  • Provide advice on data protection assessments in specialised areas (e.g., special category data or new AI forms)
  • Deliver training, share insights, and educate others on key data protection risks for Monzo
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and optimise legal spend
  • Advise on data protection and cyber security compliance issues, including risks for new product launches, data transformation projects, direct marketing campaigns, innovative advertising technologies, and AI solutions
