  • Experience in people management: Supervisory professionals with one or more employees, typically six or more direct reports, focused on tactical, operational, and some strategic activities
  • Ability to lead teams in inspection methods, operations, setups, and specifications for visually inspecting in-process and completed products (e.g., electronic units, subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies, mechanical units, subassemblies)
  • Proficiency with measuring devices, testing equipment, blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions, and checklists
  • Knowledge of statistical process control or other quality control procedures

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing incoming inspection processes: Supervising inspection of raw materials, components, and products from suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards
  • Team leadership & training: Managing and training inspection staff, ensuring proper execution of procedures, fostering continuous improvement, selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel
  • Documentation & reporting: Maintaining accurate inspection records, generating reports on non-conformances, communicating findings to stakeholders, maintaining daily records and reports
  • Process improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve inspection efficiency and effectiveness, implementing corrective actions, supporting process optimization, recommending new or enhanced methods, procedures, and standards
  • Supplier communication: Coordinating with suppliers on quality issues, facilitating root cause analysis, driving resolution of non-conformances
  • Compliance & audits: Ensuring inspection activities comply with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements; supporting internal and external audits
  • Equipment & resource management: Overseeing calibration and maintenance of inspection tools and equipment, ensuring resources are available and functioning properly; making recommendations for capital expenditures and manpower
  • Problem solving & root cause analysis: Leading investigations into quality issues using problem-solving methodologies to identify root causes and implement solutions
  • Accepting, rejecting, or reworking defective or malfunctioning units or systems
  • Performing line clearances after each lot to ensure all materials from the previous lot have been removed
  • Assuring smooth operation of the inspection unit and prioritizing schedules based on product introduction and manufacturing schedules to maintain minimum turnaround time
  • Monitoring and verifying quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
  • Overseeing area of responsibility, managing performance, developing talent, engagement, and inclusion; communicating business operations
