Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive observability best practices: Define and standardize guidelines for metrics, traces, and logs, including naming conventions, data collection methodologies, and retention policies to ensure high-quality data while optimizing cost and waste
  • Collaborate strategically with engineering teams: Partner with backend, frontend, and infrastructure teams to enhance system reliability and performance, participate in architectural reviews, define SLIs and SLOs, and integrate observability into CI/CD pipelines
  • Automate monitoring setup and provisioning: Drive automation of monitoring infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code and develop self-service observability tools to empower teams
  • Improve alerting hygiene and effectiveness: Refine alerting mechanisms by tuning thresholds, implementing noise reduction, and aligning alerts with business impact for proactive incident response
  • Train and empower product teams: Provide training and support to utilize observability tools, build dashboards for key performance indicators, and create proactive alerts
