Position Overview

Thumbtack is seeking a Frontend Engineer to join the Frontend Infrastructure team. This role is crucial for improving developer productivity and product quality at Thumbtack. The team collaborates with frontend engineers and the design systems team to build tools and frameworks that enable the creation of accessible, performant, and secure web user experiences.

The Challenge

As a Frontend Engineer on the Frontend Infrastructure team, you will own significant projects from conception through launch. You will collaborate with various teams to gather feedback, identify problems, propose solutions, and measure success. This role involves contributing to the team's roadmap and directly impacting user and business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Drive frontend infrastructure projects to completion, with a strong focus on their business impact.
  • Collaborate closely with frontend engineers, the design systems team, and other infrastructure teams to gather feedback, prioritize projects, and deliver solutions.
  • Assist in maintaining the design system at Thumbtack.
  • Explore and evaluate new frameworks and processes, providing insights on their applicability.
  • Mentor junior engineers on frontend best practices and standards.
  • Participate in a culture that values thoughtful code reviews and frequent deployments.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of industry experience in web development.
  • Familiarity with React and popular libraries within the React ecosystem.
  • Proven ability to break down complex problems and understand the tradeoffs necessary to deliver impactful products.
  • Curiosity, a data-driven approach, a love for asking questions, and critical thinking skills.
  • Comfort in communicating work with both technical and non-technical team members, including engineers, product managers, designers, and analysts.
  • A passion for delivering value to users and teammates through your work.
