  • Salary: $140,000 - $190,000 (varied on experience and market rate)

Runwise is seeking a highly motivated, results-oriented, and passionate Senior Frontend Engineer to lead the development of high-impact features that improve user experience and drive customer satisfaction. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, implement, and iterate on frontend systems that interact with real-time data and control systems. Your efforts will directly increase our customers’ climate control savings, improve tenant comfort, and decrease our collective carbon footprint. Runwise is a fast-paced, customer-focused climate-tech startup that controls and runs the key energy systems (heating, water, etc.) in 6000+ buildings throughout the US. Runwise’s unique hardware and software service significantly reduces energy usage, substantially lowering costs and carbon output.

Responsibilities

  • Be a core contributor to our React-based web applications, delivering responsive, reliable, and accessible interfaces.
  • Collaborate closely with design, product, and backend teams to build new features that empower our users to monitor and control energy systems.
  • Build reusable UI components and libraries with performance and scalability in mind.
  • Help define and improve frontend architecture and development standards.
  • Monitor performance and address UI-related issues, including usability, speed, and responsiveness.
  • Ensure a consistent experience across browsers and devices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of frontend development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with React, including modern React concepts like state management, functional components, and hooks.
  • Experience with common React libraries including React Router, Recharts, Redux, Redux Toolkit, and RTK-Query.
  • Passion for building great user experiences and working on complex, data-rich applications.
  • Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills.
  • Comfort with modern frontend tooling, including Vite, NextJS, Webpack, Babel, and ESLint.
  • Experience with frontend automated testing technologies like Vitest, Jest, or Cypress.
  • Comfortable working with REST APIs and collaborating with backend teams.
  • Experience with Native iOS, Native Android, React Native, or mobile web development is a big plus.
