Requirements

  • Expertise in Databricks administration, including Unity Catalog, user provisioning, RBAC/ABAC, cluster management, and data governance
  • Experience with identity providers (e.g., Azure Active Directory, Okta) via SCIM
  • Knowledge of data lake governance, data lineage, auditing, and data quality standards
  • Proficiency in implementing data sensitivity policies, masking, encryption, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA)
  • Skills in compute policies, serverless budgets, auto-scaling, auto-termination, and cluster pools for cost and performance optimization
  • Ability to monitor platform health, generate reports, troubleshoot issues, and resolve discrepancies
  • Strong collaboration skills with data owners, engineers, scientists, and stakeholders
  • Capability to conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, and maintain documentation

Responsibilities

  • Onboard and offboard users, groups, and service principals in Databricks, integrating with IdPs via SCIM
  • Manage user roles and entitlements at account and workspace levels
  • Implement and maintain RBAC and ABAC for data and resource access
  • Configure and manage Unity Catalog metastores, catalogs, schemas, and tables
  • Define and enforce data access policies (table-level, column-level, row-level security) using Unity Catalog
  • Manage data lineage, auditing, data quality standards, integrity, retention, and lifecycle policies
  • Translate data classification/sensitivity policies into technical controls like masking and encryption
  • Ensure regulatory compliance through security measures, audits, and vulnerability assessments
  • Define and implement compute policies for cluster creation, configuration, and resource usage
  • Monitor and manage serverless budgets, attributing usage to teams/projects
  • Optimize cluster configurations for performance and cost using auto-scaling, auto-termination, and pools
  • Monitor platform health, performance, and utilization; identify and troubleshoot issues
  • Generate reports on usage, costs, security incidents, and compliance
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in data, reports, or system behavior with teams
  • Develop and maintain documentation of configurations, procedures, and best practices
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users and stakeholders
