Requirements

Expertise in PostgreSQL database management and technical expertise
Ability to coordinate, analyze, design, implement, and administer IT solutions, including database server configuration and ongoing maintenance
Skills in analyzing client infrastructure and processes to recommend best practices for enhancing operational procedures, ensuring maximum uptime and recoverability
Proficiency in administering backup procedures, disaster recovery plans, proactive monitoring, alert response, and troubleshooting operational problems
Experience overseeing backup, clustering, mirroring, replication, failover, and restoration of corrupted databases
Capability to develop and review action plans for maintenance, deployment, and upgrades, including completing client documentation and maintaining understanding of client information (warnings, handoffs, briefing notes)
Knowledge in developing, implementing, and maintaining complex data architectures (e.g., normalized/dimensional data models, DDL generation), data transformation, and migration using scripts or stored procedures
Experience leading problem management, assessing incidents for patterns, designing technical procedures for requests/changes, and developing/reviewing action plans and documentation
Availability to participate equally in team’s on-call rotation (typically one weekend per month)

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive support for database and application infrastructure to diverse clients
Deliver and consult on services, implementing improvements and optimizations for managed services customers
Analyze client infrastructure and processes, recommending best practices to enhance operations, uptime, and recoverability
Administer backup procedures and disaster recovery plans, including proactive monitoring, alert response, and troubleshooting
Oversee data integrity and recovery processes, including backup, clustering, mirroring, replication, failover, and database restoration
Develop and review action plans for maintenance, deployment, and upgrades; ensure client documentation is completed and maintain client information awareness
Develop, implement, and maintain complex data architectures; perform data transformation and migration
Lead problem management efforts, assessing incidents, designing procedures, and developing documentation
Participate in on-call rotation
Make, manage, and meet client commitments in collaboration with team members
Prepare client status and incident reports; review reports regularly and respond to client requests/inquiries
Maintain alignment with client operating procedures (e.g., change control), manage allotments, and alert Team Manager to pacing concerns
Engage technically with clients
