The Senior Cyber Data Protection Engineer develops and executes security controls, defenses and countermeasures to intercept and prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company email, data, e-commerce and web-based systems. The Senior Cyber Data Protection Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct data risk assessments to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks related to information assets in alignment with Humana's security policies and standards.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce enterprise-wide policies and standards for data security, supporting regulatory compliance and alignment with NIST frameworks.
- Lead efforts to ensure AI readiness (GenAI, Agentic AI, etc.) and AI Data Security Posture Management (DSPM), including risk analysis and implementation of secure practices for AI data handling.
- Drive modernization and acceleration of Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies and processes, ensuring effective detection, response, and reporting of potential data loss incidents.
- Oversee secure data sharing practices, including the design, implementation, and monitoring of controls that enable business collaboration while protecting confidential information.
- Implement and optimize data classification, labeling, scanning, and tagging solutions to facilitate appropriate handling and protection of data according to its sensitivity.
- Manage and monitor data access controls and acceptable use practices, ensuring compliance with Humana’s Information Protection Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).
- Identify and mitigate insider risk by developing and managing detection, investigation, and response processes in accordance with established policies and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure application and infrastructure design, cloud security, and ongoing compliance reviews.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5 or more years of experience in cyber security, data protection, or related roles within enterprise environments.
- In-depth knowledge of data security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001), DLP solutions, and cloud security principles.
- Experience with AI security practices and risk assessment methodologies.
- Strong expertise in data classification, tagging, and access management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise policy development and compliance initiatives.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications
- CISSP, CISM, or related professional security certifications.
- Masters Degree in a Technical Field
Additional Information
Remote/WAH requirements:
- Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office.
- Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
- A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mbps download x 10mbps upload) is required.
- Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
- A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

$106,900 - $147,000 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan.
