Requirements

Candidates must be a full-fledged lawyer with a successfully completed second state exam or equivalent qualification, possessing several years of relevant professional experience in labor and employment law across multiple European countries. Experience in supporting strategic topics such as employee matters involving national and cross-border issues, restructurings, mergers, and acquisitions is preferred, along with experience in an international context. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to act confidently in a complex and international environment are also required. Fluency in English is essential, and additional European language skills are beneficial.

Responsibilities

The (Senior) Counsel (w/m/d) Arbeitsrecht im europäischen Raum will provide independent and strategic legal advice regarding labor and employment law issues for various Westlake business units in Europe, particularly in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain, and Italy. They will support strategic topics such as labor law aspects in employee matters, restructurings, mergers, and acquisitions, identify and assess labor law risks, and develop measures for risk minimization. The role involves guiding and managing labor law disputes, and taking on additional tasks within the legal department, including participation in company-wide projects. They will also manage and collaborate with external law firms in relevant European countries.
