Requirements

  • Expertise in composite structural design (e.g., from naval architecture, structural analysis, aerospace, or mechanical engineering background)
  • Proficiency in composite structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and CAD
  • Ability to validate and optimize composite designs against load cases, safety factors, strength, weight, and performance (including foiling vessel criteria)
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Intelligent, willing to collaborate ("muck-in"), and curious to learn technical details like marine, hydrofoiling, or electric vehicles
  • Experience designing for manufacture, including tooling design, materials, and processes

Responsibilities

  • Own composite design and analysis for vessels (9-20m), integrating it from early concept through development to in-house production
  • Perform structural analysis within vessel design to produce efficient structures
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary solutions with naval architects, industrial designers, electrical, foil systems, Vessev controls teams, and build teams to ensure composite solutions integrate with hardware, fitout, and manufacturing
  • Streamline composite design elements for fabrication, assembly, flexibility (e.g., for electronics or sensors), and manufacturability from the outset
  • Continuously improve processes, such as generating scripts for FEA/CAD efficiency or identifying new composite technologies/processes for high performance
