Requirements

Candidates must have over 5 years of experience in backend development and deployment in a production environment. A thorough understanding of scalable and highly available backend systems is required, along with familiarity with open-source distributed system tech stacks, including scalable databases, caching strategies, and dev-ops tools. Proficiency in Linux or macOS bash CLI tools and Python scripting is necessary, as well as deep knowledge of at least one of Go, Erlang, or C++. Candidates should also possess expertise in at least one SQL and one NoSQL database, and one distributed message queue system. Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken, are essential, along with the ability to manage production environments on Cloud provider services.

Responsibilities

The Senior Backend Engineer will lead engineering work in their areas of expertise and share knowledge with team members while establishing best engineering practices. They will design and implement large-scale, highly available backend systems aimed at zero downtime and embrace modern container and cluster management technologies. The engineer will improve and maintain a reliable development environment for the backend stack, monitor backend health, respond to failures, and enhance dev-ops tools for automation and error-proofing.
