Familiarity with shipping and monitoring applications in production environments using tools like Datadog or Grafana is required, along with experience working collaboratively through a review process using versioning tools such as GitHub or GitLab. Applicants should have experience building scalable, fault-tolerant web applications optimized for heavy traffic, managing thousands of API calls per second, and handling hundreds of thousands of queries per second for multiple stores. Proficiency in DevOps tools and practices like Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes is essential, as is the ability to explain projects from both a technical and business standpoint.
The Senior Backend Engineer will design features, APIs, and models for a diverse range of merchants and shoppers. They will work closely with an engineering manager, product manager, and designer, collaborating with a team of seasoned senior engineers. The role involves participating in solving technical challenges to ensure the platform scales effectively, shipping features independently, and monitoring deployment success according to established criteria. Additionally, the engineer will assist customers by debugging and providing incident response as part of a support and on-call rotation.
