Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (preferred)
  • Less than 1 year of relevant experience (preferred)
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
  • Ability to work specified night shift hours: Fri-Sat 7:00pm-7:00am, Sun 7:00pm-5:00am (68 hours biweekly)

Responsibilities

  • Patrol hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders
  • Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises and confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed
  • Report safety and/or fire hazards or security violations
  • Respond to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel, students, and visitors
  • Provide restraints for psychiatric patients as needed
  • Escort personnel to parking lots and hospital buildings as requested
  • Participate in investigations; maintain records and prepare incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities
  • Secure and/or unlock offices and facilities as required; secure patient valuables or lost and found articles and maintain log of items received
  • Control parking and traffic flow; enforce parking regulations
  • Respond to all emergency codes and security requests (e.g., Staff Assist, Security Alert, Fire alarms); respond to CARE Flight operations as needed
  • Mentor security interns in the role of security
  • Serve as a liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies
