Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Safeguard, patrol, and monitor buildings, grounds, and property to protect lives and property, prevent theft, fire, vandalism, and unauthorized entry while enforcing Virtua policy and procedure
  • Assist visitors, patients, vendors, and staff with excellent customer service, hospitality, and positive experiences
  • Conduct weapon screening at public entrances using approved technology, including handheld wands and the EVOLV weapon screening system
  • Provide accurate information, directions, and respond to all emergency situations; escalate to law enforcement as needed
  • Monitor alarms and security cameras
  • Perform duties for all assigned posts, including walking and mobile security rounds, stationary posts, traffic control, and special assignments
  • Utilize Health System technology for visitor control, data input/output, investigations, incident reports, shift logs, access control, infant protection, and security of sensitive areas
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written) with team members, officer-in-charge, supervisors, nursing staff, security teams, and law enforcement
  • Provide directions and escorts for visitors, vendors, patients, and staff within facilities and parking lots
  • Verify staff ID badges and ensure public (visitors, vendors, contractors) obtain proper ID bands, passes, and badges; fabricate ID badges
  • Respond to major and minor maintenance issues and communicate with leadership to resolve them
  • Respond to emergency situations such as CODE Security and CODE RED alerts as a 1st level operations responder
  • Recognize and respond to hazardous/chemical substance spills; assist with and use specialized equipment as required
