Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of progressive technical expertise in the security domain. Hands-on experience with firewall management, web application firewalls, and web application security is required. Proficiency in troubleshooting using various tools, scripting languages such as Python or shell scripts, and knowledge of networking architectures is essential. Excellent customer service and communication skills, along with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, are necessary.
The Security Engineer will work directly with staff to design and implement information security solutions that support mission, science, and information security objectives. They will collaborate with information security staff to implement defensive technologies and monitoring solutions. Daily maintenance and problem resolution support will be provided, including serving as a resource for Service Desk ticket support. The engineer will modify and update security configurations for firewalls, IDS, log servers, and related security devices, while also reviewing, auditing, and supporting all information security systems.
