Candidates must possess a PhD in a quantitative science field such as Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, or Physics, with at least 2 years of relevant academic or industry experience. A strong background in cell biology and extensive experience with large-scale data analysis and statistical modeling of datasets like RNA-seq and ATAC-seq are required. Proven scientific project success through publications and preprints, along with expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, data visualization, programming (Python, R, SQL, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn), and data manipulation are essential. Familiarity with tools like Tableau and Power BI, the ability to generate high-quality ideas independently, and comfort modifying existing codebases are also necessary.
The Data Scientist will generate insights and models from multi-omics datasets to understand patterns and relationships, partnering with Computational Biologists and AI/ML Scientists. Responsibilities include designing and developing methods for extracting and analyzing big data, building databases, curating data, and extracting knowledge using Bayesian statistics and machine learning. The role involves preparing, annotating, and storing datasets, defining best practices for metadata capture, and educating scientists on standards. Additionally, the Data Scientist will build pipelines for data quality control and analysis, develop software programs leveraging scientific methodologies, and stay current with emergent analytical tools. They will also partner with researchers to accelerate research through data mining and embed analyses in automated reports.
