Requirements

Candidates must have proven experience as a Backend Engineer developing server-side systems on the JVM, with specific Scala experience. A solid understanding of functional programming, parallel and asynchronous programming, and non-blocking I/O is required, along with experience developing REST APIs and knowledge of scalable architectures. Fluent English is necessary for working in international teams, and candidates should have an aspiration for continuous self-improvement and learning new technologies.

Responsibilities

The Scala Engineer will design, implement, and test mission-critical APIs within a PaaS eCommerce Scala backend. They will develop a scalable and multi-tenant architecture, working closely with Product Management to understand business needs and find technical solutions. Responsibilities include contributing to the team roadmap, ensuring functional and non-functional requirements (performance, security) are met, and collaborating with engineers from different teams to maintain technical excellence across the platform. The role also involves participating in an on-call rotation for production systems.
