Requirements

  • Proficiency in teaching 9th Grade Math (Numbers and Operations) or 10th Grade Math (Trigonometry), based on self-reported proficiency and demo lesson
  • Ability to co-teach Math for 9th or 10th grade high school students in New York City
  • Availability for in-person sessions at partner sites (Baruch College for 9th Grade, LIU Brooklyn for 10th Grade) and occasional orientations/professional development at SEO Office
  • Availability for specific dates depending on grade level: 9th Grade (Orientation 2/12, Academy sessions 3/7 to 5/9); 10th Grade (Orientation 1/14, Kick-Off 1/24, Academy sessions 1/31 to 5/9)
  • Ability to learn and utilize instructional technologies (Brightspace, Desmos, G-Suite, Zoom)

Responsibilities

  • Co-teach alongside Instructors to facilitate classroom instruction, teach mini lessons, organize small group and one-on-one instruction, and provide additional Scholar support
  • Cover for instructor absences by leading the class independently
  • Co-teach four to five periods of Math, following provided lesson plans, meeting lesson objectives, and abiding by SEO’s criteria for rigorous instruction and student engagement
  • Navigate and efficiently utilize instructional technologies such as Brightspace (Learning Management System), Desmos, G-Suite applications, and Zoom
