Requirements

Adheres to Organization Compliance Program, regulatory and Organization policy requirements
Maintains competency with all emergency operational procedures, including initiating CPR and emergency measures
Complies with data collection, auditing activities, and all organization, company, federal, state, and local regulations
Maintains competency in standard nursing techniques, IV insertion, point-of-care laboratory testing, administering medications and IV moderate sedation, and acting as scrub technologist with sterile technique
Operates facility equipment and technology (e.g., patient monitors, defibrillators, medical recording devices, sterilizers, computers) safely and efficiently
Inspects operation of facility equipment and reports malfunctions/maintenance needs

Responsibilities

Supports organization quality standards through regulatory compliance, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) practices, implementation of quality goals/action plans, addressing adverse events, and maintaining medical/administrative records
Obtains medical history, performs nursing assessments, discusses procedures, answers questions, provides post-procedure education to patients/families, monitors patient condition (pre/during/post-procedure, especially with moderate sedation/contrast media), and acts as patient resource
Completes accurate documentation of patient information from admission to discharge, confirms written orders/consents/lab work, prepares/delivers lab requisitions, and reports lab results
Administers medications/IV moderate sedation per physician orders, performs IV insertions and point-of-care lab testing as directed
Assists physician during procedures as scrub technologist, transports patients, and performs additional tasks as designated by physician
Provides regular communication with physicians, participates in CQI meetings, assists with verifying instruments/equipment, and helps complete/report adverse events
Maintains facility environmental integrity and safety, assists with patient workflow
