Responsibilities

Delivers nursing care by developing nursing diagnosis, establishing care objectives, defining interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends
Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating nursing care plans, coordinating with healthcare team, and conferring with physicians
Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting conditions, conferring with family/friends, establishing diagnosis/objectives/interventions/schedules
Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing goals, instructing patients/families/friends on conditions/medications/self-care, answering questions, providing resources
Evaluates patient care by adhering to standards, measuring outcomes, reviewing records, noting changes, re-evaluating/modifying care plans
Maintains safe patient care environment by following infection-control, medication administration/storage, controlled substance regulations, organization standards, and legal policies; alerting others to concerns
Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records
Maintains patient care equipment by following instructions, troubleshooting, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, calling for repairs
Manages patient care supplies by checking stock, anticipating needs, ordering/expediting/verifying receipt, stocking items
