Research Engineer / Research Scientist, Post-Training at OpenAI

The salary range is $295K - $530K.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA, with a hybrid work model requiring 3 days in the office per week. OpenAI offers relocation assistance to new employees.

Candidates need strong ML engineering skills, research experience with novel models, deep understanding of machine learning, knowledge of relevant models and evaluations, and comfort debugging large ML codebases.

The Post-Training team trains and improves pre-trained models for deployment into ChatGPT, the API, and future products, partnering closely with research and product teams to ensure models are safe, efficient, and reliable for millions of users.

Ideal candidates have strong ML engineering skills, research experience with novel models, passion for product-driven research, and thrive in dynamic, technically complex environments.
