Requirements

  • Journalism major, at least junior level with an interest in real estate or business preferred
  • Experience writing daily news stories on a deadline (for a student publication or other news organization)
  • Familiar with AP Style
  • Interest in core topics such as business and economics, interior design, and lifestyle trends
  • Ability to sift through and understand straightforward market data (e.g., home price inflation and sales data)
  • Bonus: Proficient in reading and manipulating data in Excel spreadsheets
  • Include resume, cover letter, and writing samples (ideally published clips) in application

Responsibilities

  • Report and write 2-5 stories per week for the website
  • Help with production by building stories in the CMS
  • Carry out story research and fact checking
  • Work most days from the New York office
  • Additional tasks may include work on social channels and collaborating with staff reporters on reporting
