Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required; PE, CMRP, API 510, API 570, API 653 certifications a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance/reliability work in the petrochemical industry
  • Experience with stationary equipment is required; knowledge of NDE, shop processes, ASME/API code, corrosion and metallurgy preferred
  • Familiar with OSHA’s process safety management standard regarding mechanical integrity
  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office. Should also have a working knowledge of a CMMS program and an Inspection Data Management System (IDMS)
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as a team player
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch; regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to make general decisions requiring judgement and perform activities requiring sustained concentration
  • Ability to work in moderate noise office environment and operating units requiring PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.), exposure to outside elements, usage of stairs and elevators; occasional travel including air or auto travel

Responsibilities

  • Review fixed equipment inspection reports and recommendations for equipment repair and/or replacement
  • Ensure inspections are done timely and that the inspection intervals are optimized
  • Review inspection frequencies of pressure safety valves to ensure they are adequate and track compliance
  • Evaluate fixed equipment fitness for continued service
  • Perform equipment failure analysis (i.e. root cause analysis) to determine and correct equipment problems to prevent reoccurrence
  • Follow equipment repair in shops to ensure timely and proper repair
  • Work with other engineers to develop and improve maintenance procedures for equipment inspection and repair
  • Actively participate in process improvement programs such as Six Sigma, etc
  • Participate in the PACE culture of safety and demonstrate strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety
