Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is required; PE, CMRP, API 510, API 570, API 653 certifications a plus
Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance/reliability work in the petrochemical industry
Experience with stationary equipment is required; knowledge of NDE, shop processes, ASME/API code, corrosion and metallurgy preferred
Familiar with OSHA’s process safety management standard regarding mechanical integrity
Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office. Should also have a working knowledge of a CMMS program and an Inspection Data Management System (IDMS)
Excellent organizational and communication skills, and problem-solving ability
Self-motivated, able to work independently and as a team player
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
Ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch; regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Ability to make general decisions requiring judgement and perform activities requiring sustained concentration
Ability to work in moderate noise office environment and operating units requiring PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.), exposure to outside elements, usage of stairs and elevators; occasional travel including air or auto travel
Responsibilities
Review fixed equipment inspection reports and recommendations for equipment repair and/or replacement
Ensure inspections are done timely and that the inspection intervals are optimized
Review inspection frequencies of pressure safety valves to ensure they are adequate and track compliance
Evaluate fixed equipment fitness for continued service
Perform equipment failure analysis (i.e. root cause analysis) to determine and correct equipment problems to prevent reoccurrence
Follow equipment repair in shops to ensure timely and proper repair
Work with other engineers to develop and improve maintenance procedures for equipment inspection and repair
Actively participate in process improvement programs such as Six Sigma, etc
Participate in the PACE culture of safety and demonstrate strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety
